Sequence of the Celebration

The celebration began with a procession of grandparents, elderly parishioners, and the Sisters, each carrying a rose petal. As a sign of love and reverence, they offered the petals at the foot of the statue of St. Anne.

The introduction and the Liturgy of the Word were conducted by the Sisters and members of the Women’s Commission.

The Holy Eucharist was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Sahaya Regan, our Parish Priest.

Following the final blessing, all the grandparents and elderly parishioners were felicitated with a rosebud and a gift as tokens of appreciation and gratitude.

The celebration concluded with a fellowship meal shared by everyone.

Reflection

Grandparents and the elderly are the keepers of faith, just as St. Anne and St. Joachim were. They are a great blessing to every family.

They enrich the lives of the younger generation by sharing their wisdom, life experiences, and enduring faith. They are inspiring examples of faith, forgiveness, hope, and perseverance.

Through their active participation in parish life, family gatherings, and community events, they continue to strengthen both the Church and society.

They are also a powerful source of spiritual support and guidance for their children and grandchildren.

Children are called to love, support, help, respect, and honour their parents and grandparents, remembering God's commandment:

“Honour your father and your mother.”
(Exodus 20:12)

May St. Anne and St. Joachim intercede for us and for all our families.
