Jambudi Parish, Banswara Deanery:
The Feast of St. Monica, the patron saint of mothers, was celebrated with great faith, devotion and enthusiasm today at Jambudi Parish, Banswara Deanery.
On this special occasion, a meaningful Mother’s Day celebration was organised by the Women’s Sangh at Velag Church. The programme honoured the selfless love, sacrifices and prayers of mothers, highlighting their important role in nurturing faith and values within the family.
The parish priest, Fr. Anup Panda, offered a prayer invoking the intercession of St. Monica and reflected on her life of unwavering faith, patience and sacrifice for her children. He shared how St. Monica’s constant prayers and penance for her son, St. Augustine, ultimately bore fruit, leading him towards conversion and holiness. St. Augustine later became one of the greatest saints and teachers of the Catholic Church.

Fr. Anup Panda also emphasised the importance of family prayer, explaining that prayer within the family strengthens relationships, builds faith and guides children towards a life rooted in Christian values.
The celebration was a beautiful reminder of the power of a mother’s prayer and the profound role of women in strengthening families and the Church. The faithful participated wholeheartedly, making the Feast of St. Monica a spiritually enriching and memorable occasion.
