“To the world you are a mother. To the family you are the world.”
This sentiment of joy and gratitude resonated throughout the Mother’s Day celebrations held on 30th August 2026 in most of the parishes,of the Diocese of Meerut in commemoration of the Feast of St Monica The occasion was dedicated to recognising and celebrating women, especially mothers, as central to the life of the family and the Church.
In remembering that the first breath, the first touch of warmth and the first embrace of love for every human being comes from a mother, the diocese honoured her as a chosen and blessed co-creator, selected by the Almighty Himself. The celebrations provided a beautiful occasion to recall and remind the faithful that, although childbirth is physically demanding, it remains one of the most beautiful and satisfying experiences, where new life is born and the first cry of a newborn baby overpowers all pain. From that moment on, life becomes a journey of love, care and selfless giving.
Across parishes in the diocese, special prayers, reflections and fellowships were organised:
- To honour mothers and mother figures for their sacrifice, faith and nurturing love
- To draw inspiration from St. Monica’s life of prayer, patience and perseverance for her family
- To encourage the entire Christian community to support, respect and walk alongside women and mothers in every season of life
The Mother’s Day celebrations across the Meerut Diocese, observed in conjunction with the feast of St. Monica, successfully highlighted the sacred role of mothers and women in the life of the Church. The day strengthened family bonds, deepened spiritual reflection and fostered a culture of honour, care and support for women in all parishes. It stands as a meaningful witness to the Church’s maternal heart and its ongoing commitment to the empowerment and well-being of women and families.
