C.C.B.I. Women’s Commission, Arch Diocese, Agra Organizes a One-Day Women’s Empowerment Programme
On Sunday, 23 August 2026, a one-day training programme for women was organized at the “Nav Jyoti Pastoral Centre” in Vajirpur, Agra. The programme was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Archbishop Dr. Albert D’Souza through the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. He was the chief guest of the programme.
The programme was attended by Archbishop Dr. Albert D’Souza, Vicar General Father Joseph Dabare, Father Philip, and Father Gregory. Dr. Pallavi Khare, Advocate Namrata Mishra, and Sister Vidya were also present the programme was conducted under the supervision & guidance of Mrs. Pancy Thomas.
The main topics of the training were Gender Sensitization, the POCSO Act, and the POSH Act. Approximately 75 women participated in the programme.
First, Dr. Pallavi Khare addressed the women on the subject of Gender Sensitization. She said that most discrimination begins within families, and therefore children should not be taught discriminatory attitudes from an early age. She also explained that conservative thinking affects gender equality and that change in society can only be brought about through education and awareness.
Secondly, Advocate Namrata Mishra conducted the training session for the women. She explained that the responsibility for children's safety lies with everyone, including parents, the police, principals, doctors, and others. She explained that in India, POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) is one of the strictest laws for the protection of children. She also stated that cases under the law are heard on a priority basis and are generally expected to be completed within approximately two years.
Thirdly, the speaker of the programme was Sister Vidya, who explained the POSH Act in detail. She explained that the law was enacted to prevent sexual harassment of women and to provide them with protection. She also explained the various offences covered under the POSH Act.
