Diocese of Meerut – 26 July 2026
The Diocese of Meerut joyfully celebrated Grandparents' Day on 26 July 2026, commemorating the Feast of St. Joachim and St. Anne, the grandparents of Jesus, across its parishes.
The celebrations began with the Holy Eucharist, during which special prayers and blessings were offered for all grandparents, thanking God for their faith, love, wisdom, and invaluable role in nurturing families. Priests in the parishes prayed especially for grandparents and invoked God's abundant blessings upon them.
Children expressed their love and gratitude by presenting handmade cards and flowers to their grandparents. In many parishes, members of the Women's Commission actively participated by proclaiming the readings, leading the Prayers of the Faithful, and assisting in the liturgical celebration. Church choirs enhanced the occasion with special hymns and songs.
Various parishes organized joyful programmes after the Holy Mass, including games for grandparents, followed by the distribution of prizes to the winners. Rosaries, tokens of appreciation, and refreshments were also distributed, creating an atmosphere of joy, fellowship, and gratitude.
The celebration across all the parishes of the Diocese beautifully reflected the importance of honouring grandparents for their lifelong witness of faith, love, sacrifice, and guidance. It was a meaningful occasion that strengthened family bonds and encouraged younger generations to cherish and respect their elders.
The Diocese of Meerut expresses heartfelt gratitude to all the priests, parish leaders, Women's Commission members, volunteers, children, and families whose enthusiastic participation made the celebration memorable and spiritually enriching.
